Biography ::
Born on the 25th November 1973, from an early age Jay Roberts had a passion for music. Jay's first taste of the DJ world came about whilst studying at college back in 1988, carrying record boxes for a friend who was a local DJ in Coventry. By watching how things were done Jay soon picked up the skills to fill in for Djs for an hour a night at The Eclipse nightclub. Proving popular with the crowds Jay soon started playing alongside the resident DJ at The Eclipse nightclub and never looked back.

After finishing college Jay moved back up north to his hometown of Burnley, bought his first set of decks and acquired a large vinyl collection. Through his fascinations of how music was put together, Jay turned his hand to the production side of music and was one of the first people to start using digital technology in the studio.

While producing Jay started to make a name for himself on the club scene across the North West playing a mixture of funky house, Balearic and pumping trance and very occasionally pop, in a number of different venues including Angles in Burnley playing mainly progressive and uplifting house, Blueberries at Nelson and the Peppermint Palace.

After a chance meeting with a club promoter in a record shop in 1995 Jay Roberts soon became part of a shared residency at The Roxy in Darwen on a Thursday and Saturday night, bringing the first sounds of house music to Darwen. In 1995 The Roxy played mostly pop and more mainstream music, refusing to follow the form of previous residents and play back-to-back transitions, Jay took the crowd on a musical journey by choosing sets very carefully, giving a broad selection of both well-known favourites and newer ground breaking sounds.

Jay moved to Blackpool in 1999 and soon became a regular DJ on the club scene in the seaside resort whilst sill in residency at The Roxy. Gigs included a charity event for a doorman who was tragically killed while in the resort.

Deciding that funky house was his forte Jay became regular DJ on the private party scene in Blackpool. New Years Eve 2000/01, Jay Roberts was billed as paying a forty five minute set but four and a half hours later the crowd still were not ready to let him leave. This gig also led Jay to meeting Rick Napier and through Rick, Jay was soon playing regular sets at Solid in Preston.

Following on from his success at Solid Jay decided to take his Djing international playing at bars and club across the United States mainly in Texas and Washington and also across the Holiday resorts in Spain.

Jay landed back where it had all started in Darwen in 2003 and through a business venture took up residency at The Circus on a Friday night, playing mainly funky house and also R&B. Not only is Jay a resident at the Circus he designed the DJ box, sound system and lighting layout using the skills that he has picked up over many years Djing.
