Another remix/mash-up i've been playing live on three decks with two copies of both the vocal and the backing to cut up finally made it to the studio and into Ableton last week and here's what i'll call "mix 1". I think the two tunes work really well together where they are and being a big fan of Strings Of Life on it's own without Kathy Brown's vocal, however, the Danny Krivit mixes went on a bit too long to use pratically - thank god for hot-start points on CD turntables. Some of you who are just starting out doing mixes/remixes have been asking where did the idea come from. Easy, this one was a fluke, I was playing the Knee Deep mix of King Unique and was mixing Soul Central into the end and got distracted by a clubber asking the name of the track and left the volume up. The vocal is right after that mix on the Defected release (DFECT23 if you can get a copy, try HTFR), by a fluke, it just played over the piano break so I started messing around back in the studio and it became part of my live set. This mix is a bit laid back true to the original sort of summer, dreamy beach tune that it is, there's another, slightly more funkier version in production now and should be on the site in a week or two.
