Farewell to The Circus
No more funky in this house
After nearly two and a half years, my Funky House & R'n'B nights at The Circus Pub in Darwen have come to a close. This really is a great shame too as the night was doing well overall. However, like a number of other venues in similar locations throughout the country, owners and operators are feeling the overall financial pinch of this years run of Easter and May day Bank Holidays being so close together. The management at The Circus are undergoing a rethink of the entertainment policy as a whole and have sadly decided that dance music as a specialist theme for a night is not what they want. It looks like they are set to follow the route of so many bars around the North West of the country and move towards a more mainstream theme and concentrate on entertaining the mature generation of customers following that sad musical trend of regurgitation rather than innovation.
Although I am leaving my residency, there is the possibility of a series of one-off's.
Simon and family have been personal friends of mine for over 10 years and I wish them every success in their continued operation of the venue.
Talks are underway with several other venues at present for guest slots and residencies across the North West.
